Our research data is published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY-4.0). Use it, adapt it, and share it. Just credit Cited.

What you can do

  • Use commercially: Including in paid products, internal tools, and client work.
  • Adapt and remix: Build on top of our findings, charts, and signal definitions.
  • Redistribute: Republish in part or in whole, in any medium or format.

What we ask in return

Attribute Cited. Name the source as "Cited" (or "Cited GEO Signal Research"), link back to the original page, and indicate any changes you made. That's the entire deal.

What's not covered

  • Raw scraped page contents. Copyright stays with each page’s original publisher.
  • Raw AI engine responses, subject to OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic terms of service.
  • The Cited web application, marketing site UI, and source code (proprietary).
  • Cited blog posts (separately licensed; check each post footer).
  • Client-specific audit reports and confidential engagement data.

Versioning and irrevocability

Each released dataset version is CC-BY-4.0 in perpetuity. We may update the license terms for future releases, but anything we publish today stays free under these terms forever.

Can I use Cited research in a paid product?

Yes. CC-BY-4.0 permits commercial use. You just need to attribute Cited.

Can I train an AI model on this data?

Yes. We encourage it. Please surface attribution to Cited in outputs that quote or summarize our findings.

Can I republish your findings on my blog?

Yes, in part or in whole. Include a link back to the source page on usecited.ai/research and a CC-BY-4.0 notice.

Are your blog posts also CC-BY-4.0?

Not by default. Only the research dataset is CC-BY. Individual blog posts may carry their own license. Check each post’s footer.

Do I need permission for high-volume republishing or to drop attribution?

Reach out to hello@usecited.ai. We can discuss alternate licensing if standard CC-BY-4.0 doesn't fit your use case.
